c.1954 Linemar, Battery Operated Capital Airliner Viscount in Original Box

Superb battery operated tin litho four engine passenger airplane. Complete with original box and instructions. Best of all it's in excellent+ to near mint condition and everything on it works beautifully!

This battery operated remote control toy toy features forward movement with all four rubber tires and all four metal propellers rotating. Simultaneously the red and green wing tip lights blink alternately. The buttons on the battery box turns it right or left, while the main switch turns it on and off.

Not a shred of plastic on this beauty. Even the front and small rear stabilizing wheels are tin. Early design with rounded nose adopted from WWII era bombers. Handsomely designed with solid white embossed fuselage with passenger windows outlined in red. Company logo on either side of the upright wing and on both front exits doors. The rest of the plane was colored metallic blue and highlighted with silver, red, and black. The battery box and wire are all original.

Terrific example of Japanese quality toy construction. For example the propeller engines are sealed all the way around including the underside. Shortly after this plane was produced most of the toy manufacturers did not include the lower "non-viewable" half of the engine. Also, the metal halves of the upright vertical wing are rolled under each other. They're not tabbed as a separate part attached to the fuselage. The rear horizontal stabilizing wing is "sealed" inside the halves of the body; it doesn't pull out from the rear of the plane. Of course there's also the metal propellers instead of plastic and the metal sealing strip which runs down the center of the plane.

It comes complete with its scarce original box. The operating instructions are printed on a separate paper and then pasted to the underside of the cover. It also includes another set of instructions for inserting the batteries.

Size: 14" wingspan with 11½" long fuselage.
